The history of Hip Hop started in 70's (20th century). This kind of music and a global culture were born in Bronx. Dj Kool Herca and Dj Hollywood were the first promotors of this style. The most important five branches of the culture are: MCing, DJing, graffiti, b-boying and beatbox.

Each type of this style is popular. Young people are interested in Hip Hop, many of them sing or dance. There are style battles around the world. Freestyle battles are popular in Poland but in other parts of the world this kind of spending a free time is even more popular. Freestyle is creative for teeneagers. At the moment we have got a lot of Hip-Hop bands. The most popular bands in Poland are Plomnien 81 and Peja. The most popular in America are Snoop Dog and 50 Cent. The greatest b-boy is [b]Amazing Bobo and b-girl - Baby Love.


Every year a lot of Festivals of Hip Hop music take place. There are : Hip Hop Camp, WBW(Big Battle of Warsaw). A lot of people attend these parties. They are very popular events because of famous stars who sing and dance.

Polish Hip Hop started when Wzgorze Ya-pa recorded its first Hip Hop album. At the moment the most popular singer is Peja.

In New York the best are 50 Cent and Snoop Dog. A new style of Hip Hop culture is bling bling. Rich children like it but real culture hates it. Characteristic things for this style are: jewellery, money, fast cars and loose clothes.


The global Hip Hop culture is still developing and changing. Djs play Hip Hop music very ofen. It is both the popular and curious culture. I like it very much.
